| Auto Say |
|---|
| Auto Say is a handy feature that lets you have lengthy conversations with another character (in the same room or another one) without having to type "say", "page", "whisper" or whatever each time you want to say something. When auto-say is active (there is a button on the toolbar to activate/deactivate it, or you can type Shift+Ctrl+A to toggle auto-say on or off) then everything you type automatically has the "auto-say" prefix prepended to it. For example, if you set the "auto-say" text to "say " (note the trailing space), then just type something in and "say " will be put in front of it. You can set up certain exclusions to allow you to still move around and do other commands whilst auto-say is active. Enable Auto Say If this is checked, auto-say is active. Use: SHIFT+CTRL+A to toggle auto-say on or off whilst playing a game, or click on the "auto-say" button on the toolbar. Exclusions Some things can be excluded from auto-say, so you can still walk around and do things while auto-say is active. MUSHclient automatically turns auto-say off temporarily if the command starts with the auto-say sequence. For example, if auto-say is set to "say" and you type: say hello Then: "say hello" will be sent to the MUD, not "say say hello". Also, using the numeric keypad to do things (eg. walk around) will bypass auto-say, so, for example, if you had keypad-8 programmed to send "north" and you hit it, then it would send "north", and not "say north". Exclude commands starting with special characters If this is checked then only lines starting with a letter or number (ie. A-Z, 0-9) are "auto-said". This means you can type things like "@teleport" without having to disable auto-say. Exclude macros If this is checked, then any command under the "macros" tab which is marked as "send now" or "replace", which matches the start of a line, is not auto-said. For example, if you have "examine" as a macro, then typing: "examine fred" will not be auto-said. Override prefix: You can type one or more characters here which, if they appear at the start of a line, disable auto-say for that line. For example, the default override prefix is "-", so if you typed: -north Then you would go north, not "say north". Auto Say text: Type here what you want to precede each "auto say" line. Remember to put in a trailing space, if that is what you want. For example, if you just had an auto-say text of "say", and then typed "hello", then "sayhello" would be sent to the world, probably causing an error. Therefore you should type in "say " (note the trailing space). Suggested auto-say texts could be: say whisper person = page person = pose +newbie Send auto-say response to command interpreter (for aliases etc.) If checked, the assembled auto-say strings is re-sent to the command interpreter, and thus could include aliases, speedwalks etc. For instance, you might have the auto-say text as "#chatall ". Since "#chatall" would be an alias from the Chat plugin you want it to be re-evaluated. In this case you would check this option. See Also ... Commands
