Is there any way I can change the MIDI device used by MUSHclient in order to be something that isn't the default GS Wavetable Synth?

I don't know how to do that. The sound playing functions use DirectSound. I don't know how to change the MIDI device it uses.

A quick dig around seems to indicate that you can do it from Windows XP to 8.1, but 10 might not work. Anyway, take a look:
