Hi, on a FOTE mud i work on, we've got a problem. THe ships. theres 6000 vnums, but it appears they've all been taken and used. shipwipes, have only deleted the ships, the vnums remained in use. We were going to delete the file shipvnum.are, and create a new one, however, someone linked shipvnum.are to another area, and we don't know how to look at the other area, so we can't delete it. Please, if you have any information that could help, just give it. Thanks

Linked the other area? So you want to know the other areas filename? Look over the "zones" and "vnum" command, checking the appropriate vnums, matching them with the areas vnums.

One of the problems with the FOTE release was terribly inter-dependant areas, with objects made in one and used in resets of others. The only thing you can do is make copies of them in the local areas and change the resets to reflect the new vnums, or delete the new area and just clean up the bad resets later.

Not sure if its available in FOTE, but if the rdlete command works, you can use that to delete all the rooms in the area, leaving the mobs and objects alone.
