I downloaded pennmush. Unzipped it. Searched out the minimal database file, but WinZip won't let me unzip it. Now it's stuck as a Winzip executable file. So, I have no clue what to do. Help?

You should be able to unzip it, however it is listed on this page:

Sorry for being so dense, but I found the link, and the contents and all, but what do I do with it now?

Copy them from the web page and save into a file (eg. using Notepad). That will become your minimal database.

However, you should be able to find that file in the download and just use that. Which download are you using?

I went to the ftp site and downloaded pennmush172p29. I have the minimal file and the indb file, but both can't be opened or unzipped. Should I save over them with the notepad file?

Okay. I geuss when I unzipped Pennmush it already unzipped the mdb or something. I tried opening the application in MSDOS, but it says "redirecting output to: log\game.log"

Any idea what I do next or what this means?

There are a whole lot of posts about this in the forum, plus some PennMUSH FAQs, and a whole section of this web site about installing PennMUSH. Try using the "search" button at the top of this page to find more information. (eg. search for "redirecting" and "pennmush").

The quick answer is, this is normal, however if there is an error (ie. you can't connect) look inside this log file for the reason.

For example, look at this post: How do I run the server? . The person who posted the questions there ran into most of the same problems, and most of my replies will apply to you.
