This is version 1.7.2 p17 of PennMUSH, compiled for Win32 - namely Windows 95 and Windows NT.

It includes the code for the Portable Space Engine, version space-0.9.14.

Credits
-------

Existing work on a space-based game by Jason M. Skiles, and Donald J. Bindner was rewritten by Cameron K. Smith in December 1996. Mark P. Cooke joined the development effort in September 1997, shortly after the initial beta release.

Information about PSE, including the latest downloads, and other helpful information, can be found at their web site: http://www.sr.bham.ac.uk/~mpc/pulsar/pse/index.shtml

What is included
----------------

1. The PENNMUSH.EXE file (the PennMUSH server), with PSE code included.
2. Documentation for PSE in the form of HTML documents (use your web browser to read them)
3. A "space database" (space.db) built in accordance with the instructions included with PSE.

What is *not* included
----------------------

1. PennMUSH help files and other files (eg. MUSH.CNF) needed to get PennMUSH running properly.

These can all be obtained from the "normal" PennMUSH distribution. To save space they are not included as part of this archive.

Instructions
------------

1. Unzip the archive, making sure you preserve folder names (ie. you should have a subfolder with documentation). Use Winzip to do this, obtainable from: http://www.winzip.com

2. Replace the PENNMUSH.EXE file from the "normal" PennMUSH distribution with the one in this archive.

3. Read the documentation in the docs subdirectory.

How to use PSE
--------------

To be frank, I haven't worked that out for myself. If you connect to the supplied database you will find things that sort-of work (copy space.db to data\indb and reboot the server). I'll leave the details of how to get it going to you.

You may wish to start with a minimal database, and follow the instructions in docs/scripts/notes.txt.

Summary of commands

This can be found in docs/scripts/commands.txt.

Have fun!
