| Hello, I just upgraded to a new computer after many years and I've been using version 1.04 of MUSHclient ever since I began MU*ing. I have all my world files and passwords and all, and apparently I have forgotten a very, very important one.
I really must have this password as it cannot be reset or changed. However, when I go to Open World with 1.04, the program vanishes on 7.
I really must either be able to use the world file or be able to get the information from it. It's a very serious issue and I'm worried about it. Could you help?
Thanks in advance.

| Sorry to hear about your problem.
I don't have an answer for you, just a tangential question. Why are you still using such an old version? |

| I presume s/he wants to update, but needs the password.
See this page:

Read "Installation notes".
If you download version 3.84 it will read your old world file format (or at least I hope it will read such an old version). Then you can resave it, and the new world file will be readable by modern versions.
Make sure you back up your world file first (make a copy, put it somewhere safe) in case something goes wrong.
I am not absolutely certain version 3.84 will read a 1.04 world file, but I would try that first. If not, you may need to go back a bit (eg. to version 2), load and save, then go to version 3, then 3.84.
All those versions should be available here:
