Cannot Post to Forum

This site keeps blocking my submission - this is what I submitted.

Subject Line was New User - A Hello and a Question

Hello everyone,

I have just joined after seeing a link to gammon.com on the [Ar****o] forum and just wanted to say hello. I am a UK based Electrician who's first love was electronics after being taught about the Z80 circa 1985, when the price dropped to approx £10 each just for a CPU!!!

Anyway what brings me here?
I'm new to C/C++ microcontroller programming and NEED to jump away from the [Ar****o] and [Ar****o] forum with majority of members seem to be kids asking homework questions an not prepared to work through a problem or grown ups behaving like children.

I have just tried to post my first question here and have been blocked because "Posts about the [Ar****o] are not permitted..........". The problem IS the [Ar*****o]! How can I post a question fully EXPLAINING what my problem is but asking for suggestions and discussing options for a different approach.

I'm sorry about that, but there are a number of places to post questions about the Arduino, including the Arduino Forum, and the Arduino Stack Exchange.



The Arduino part of this forum is read-only as I believe that the Arduino Forum, Arduino Stack Exchange and other Arduino-related sites cover this very well.

I am a moderator on the Arduino Stack Exchange, and if you believe that a question of yours is not being treated respectfully, please post a link to it.

If you have a way to monitor attempted posts please do so and look at what I was sending you.

I cannot post anything - I think your filters are too strong and not in context. 'Referring to' something is not the same as 'asking about'. Your site is blocking me from asking a question about alternatives.

I am not going to go to forums asking for alternatives when their whole existence is setup is to support and promote a certain environment, the environment I am trying to move away from.

I am sorry for the slight tone Nick, but I am frustrated trying to code with a hand tied behind my back and seeing serial & 1-Wire data on the screen via a logic analyser that I want to read and detect but can't reliably.

I came here asking for help for various reasons 1)your experience with 1-Wire. 2) A more personable forum experience 3) But mainly to help me move away from the root cause of the problem - only too be rebuffed.

I’m sorry if you feel rebuffed, but I decided a few years ago to not attempt to support Arduino on multiple forums. I put a rather large and obvious request on the Electronics part of this forum asking people to direct their questions about electronics to either Arduino Stack Exchange or Arduino Forum.

Some people chose to ignore that request and post questions here, a lot of which could easily be answered by the above-mentioned sites, and indeed much faster than I could because I have to sleep, and there are lots of active people on those sites, in all sorts of time zones.

Thus, I put in a “blocker” that blocks attempts to ask questions about the Arduino, as you noticed.

Both of the sites I mentioned above are not “promoting” anything. You can ask questions about Arduino things, or indeed related to Arduino (eg. the Atmega328 processor, even if it is not in an Arduino).

There is also Electronics Stack Exchange which deals with pure electronics (and microprocessors) and not just Arduino. Some of the posters there can be a bit terse if you mention the word Arduino however.

No, it just gets rejected at the posting level. I trust you kept a copy.
