| I am running windows 11, and this is occurring with at least 5.06, 5.07 and 5.03 (pre-bundled version for a gui).
For some reason whenever I try to open any settings menu in MUSHclient the whole program will lock up for anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes. It triggers the "not responding" message and does the windows grey-out thing.
My initial suspicion is that this is related to windows 11 somehow, as this did not occur prior to using it for me.
I tried to see if there were any workarounds, but was unable to find any messages about this issue, possibly due to the volume of other unrelated issues with similar keywords, or possibly because it is something specific to my system.
If anyone has any ideas it would be helpful. I do not want to have to wait several minutes every time I open the scripting or alias menu. If there is any information I could provide to help figure it out I will do so.
EDIT: Had a breakthrough when systematically turning stuff on and off. I think it is being cased by Rivatuner Statistics Server. It does not seem to be related to the frame limiter that I was using Riva for, as disabling it does not stop the slowdown, but shutting down the process does. Interestingly, if I close riva, then launch it again, the slowdown immediately starts but is far less severe than it was prior. (5-15 seconds rather than 30-120+ seconds.) | Top |

| That's weird. The only thing I can suggest is if you have something strange on the clipboard (eg. you copied an image) which can make it do strange things. |

| Judging by what I read about Rivatuner Statistics Server it operates by hooking operating system calls. Anything that does this can conceivably cause problems because it interferes with the normal pipeline of interaction between the client and the operating system. |

| Yeah I am just keeping it (Riva) turned off except for when I need it now. There are a few older games that misbehave badly at extremely high frame rates, but if I am not playing them there is no reason to run it.
Hopefully if anyone else encounters the same issue turning it off will work for them too. | Top |
