What do you mean by that? Aren't you running all of this from Cygwin? If so, in what way were you not able to find the file?

I found it in src not cygwin, but that isn't the point, I just want to know if I should remove the block of code ?

Your use of terminology is confusing, the src directory is part of the cygwin system. So, really it is in both.

As to your question, you can comment out that line and see what happens, that is make it read:


#limit stack 1024k

I put the smaug.exe in the area folder, along with cygwin1.dll and I got this:

Which version of SMAUG are you using? Which one did you download, and from where? Sounds like an inconsistency in the area file, however the stock SmaugFUSS compiles and runs without such errors. Perhaps you are using an earlier version, or mixing the smaug.exe with an area that it isn't designed for.

You don't really need to copy the smaug.exe to the area directory, I think you will get confused doing that.

What I normally do, after compiling smaug (and not wanting to use the startup file) is this:


cd ../area # change to area directory
../src/smaug # run smaug from source directory


It loads areas in the order shown in the area.lst file, like this:

It looks like it loaded all areas OK, since gallery.are is the last one. What I would expect to see after that is:

I downloaded it from your site, and that eof bug is the last line when I run smaug from command prompt,
should I re-download smaugFUSS ?
Nothing would be lost except maybe a few changes trying to make it work...
