| I am not new to the mud world but it has been 20 years+ since i have played with it. I want to start my own server because back in the days I did create a area "figaro castle" for a server i used to play on that was called "Dark Chambers" using just a text editor and it took a long time but, it has been offline for just as long and no information about it. I am pretty sure it was smaug so the area editor i have now that you "nick" created but only for 1.4 area files. I used to run a BBS for years when i was around 14 years old and tried to re-create it and having complications when it comes to door games ETC. thats with mystic for now since it is the most modern other than Synchronet but i just want to start my own mud now but I dont have the experience. i am sure i can figure it out since i have been out of the loop for 10 years so is there a way to convert area files to 1.9 after using your editor? that is my main question. i wanted to email you but this is the only way to contact you. thanks

| Some earlier versions of Smaug (and possibly the latest one) could read the old area file format produced by the Area Editor and convert it to the new format.
I would try to open files created by the Area Editor in Smaug, and if that fails, go back to an earlier version of Smaug until you find one which will read the files, and then save them. Then use the files thus produced in the latest version of Smaug.
SmaugFUSS (Fixed Up Smaug Source) is now on Github: https://github.com/Arthmoor/SmaugFUSS |
