This may sound like a really really stupid stupid question, but when I update mushclient, can I install the new version over what I've already got,or should I uninstall the old then install the new?

I just install the old one over the new. No reason to really uninstall the old one.

You can install it over the top. If you uninstall then you need to re-enter the registration code, assuming you have registered it.

However with any software it is a good idea to back things up, particularly files you have put work into, like scripts, world files, plugins etc.

As Poromenos discussed in another thread recently, if you update the files shipped with MUSHclient (eg. change plugins) then the update will overwrite those.

However updating will not overwrite or delete any world files, as it doesn't come with any of those.

If you uninstall, you also lose all your preferences (global preferences).
