Ok now I can use the smaug.exe. Which has fixed the new player saveing. However I'm still haveing problems with the object/area/mob saveing. I'm running windows 98, please help me out here.

Little history, since this is my system its not dedicated. So I need to be able to shut off smaug and then restart it from where I left off. Which should be able to do, I mean if a mud crashes, it doesn't start off from when the game was first compiled does it?

Thanks,
Akira

Akira,

I take it from your earlier posting, that your are running smaug via the cygwin shell (based on your needing to move the area files into the src directory), in any event It shouldnt affect your ability to save your mob/room/object data. Now... in order to save the info, I need to know if the area you are working on is a prototype area or not? For instance, if the area is in your area.lst file, its not a prototype area (or at least it shouldnt be). In that case, first you need to aassign the area to yourself, then you might need to expand the hi vnum values for your object, rooms, and mobs (if you dont know how to do that do a help for the aset command). Then you need to make your changes, and then savearea. I have had problems in the past with some lost mob changes, so you might want to fold the area (I dont reccomend this unless you know what yer doing).

If the area is a prototype area. First of all, you need to make sure you have yourself oassign, massign, and rassign'ed the range of vnumbers you want to be working on. Then you only need to type savearea.

I hope this info helps, if not, give me more specific info on whats going wrong, and Id be happy to help you further.

Yup, that helped a ton. aassign and oassign is my key factor in actually being able to save objects/areas I create.

Thank you
