When I attempt to create an area and assign vnums, it does that and makes the area name the name of the player I assign it to. Thats fine. However, when we savearea, the area does not save and does not show on the areas/zones lists. I am using empty vnums. Any suggestions? I am running a windows box.

Are you using FUSS? If not, I suggest you should.

Can you show us exactly what you are typing?

Heh, I feel realllllly stupid at the moment. I am using FUSS, however I was completely forgetting the little prototype flag. All good now though. If I should encounter further issues with it then I will be back.

Ok, well, it isn't working once again. I got the areas to build just fine. So now when I savearea it saves. But when I reboot the mud server, it is not there.

If these are prototype areas (presumably they are since you said you're using savearea rather than foldarea), after you reboot the mud you need to use the loadarea command to make them be "there" again.

I will try, but the problem I was having, is that I saved the proto area, and when the mud shut itself down, and I brought it back up, loada did not find the area.

Yes, the file is, but when I tried the previous suggestion, it gave me an "Area Not Found."

Well, I swapped from Smaug 1.4b to 1.4a and the area creating and saving thereof works now.

There is no Smaug 1.4b. Not unless it's a modified version of Smaug 1.4a someone uploaded somewhere.

Area saving and loading works just fine in FUSS so I'm not sure where any of us can go from here. Vague "it doesn't work" posts really don't help anyone.
